Mike had to buy a press machine in order to work on the wheel bearings, but it wasn’t quite the right height, so he extended the legs with metal bars that he cut with the saw…see the very exciting Sawing in the Dark video! We also received two new CV Drive Axles today. Mike only needs the end pieces, so he’ll be removing them. It was cheaper to purchase brand new completed axles than to purchase just the used end bits from an old Subaru, so he’ll hack off what he needs and toss the rest.
Mike’s shop press needed to be taller, so he made new legs for it…outside, in the middle of the night, and in the dark (don’t try this at home, kids)!
Mike is now working with the brake lines. He purchased a new brake flaring tool, 50 feet of stainless steel brake tubing, and stainless steel flared ends. These will be used to fix the front brake lines that have already been run, but currently leak, as well as for the rear brakes and clutch. He has found that the brake tubing is difficult to manipulate even with the flaring tool, so it’s still a work in progress.
